Rachel and I spent one week in the desert along the border of Pakistan. We walked and rode camels. Our guide Salim was excellent and taught us much. It was an incredible experience; the sand dunes, sleeping under the stars, and walking through villages.

Twice a day we made chapatis over the fire. This is the main food staple of the desert people. You mix flower and water and cook it on a steel plate over the fire. It got me thinking, maybe chapatis would be okay for Pesach? I timed how long it took to make them, and from the start until the first chapati came off the fire, it was less than 8 minutes. I must say that chapatis are very tasty in comparison to the box matzah. I’ve been thinking about making some for Pesach. This is probably close to what the Jews ate when they left Egypt.
